Mastery through detail, and why small things matter.
I’ve come to love punch lists. Not because they mean a project is done, but because they remind me of this truth:
Mastery lives in the margins.
Anyone can pour concrete or hang drywall. But aligning the reveal, tuning the trim, sanding the last rough edge? That’s where the great ones shine.
The same is true in life. It’s not the big wins that define your character it’s how you handle the little things.
Did you call back the client on time?
Did you review the drawing again before issuing it?
Did you apologize when you were wrong even if no one asked?
Punchlist thinking is not about perfectionism. It’s about respect. For the work, for the craft, and for the people who experience the result.
Field Note:
Treat every detail like it matters because it does.
